Village Hall reopening

Parish Clerk Information to note

After many months of being forced to close to the public, we are slowly reopening. We will be re-opening in a covid-secure way. Some groups have already been able to return. Others will be able to start 17 May and 21 June respectively. Most evenings are already books by existing regular users but there are still slots for daytime activities available.

Calling talented people to start new daytime community groups in the Village Hall.

Applications from Knit and Natter groups, Craft Sessions, Chair Based Exercise, Yoga and Pilates are welcome. Cn you think of anything else? Let us know.

What’s on?

Please note that all of these activities require you to book with the group or club leader in advance so the corvid-secure capacity within the guidelines is not exceeded. Facemasks must be worn inside the building.

From the week commencing 17 May groups of up to six may meet indoors. There are exemptions.

COMMUNITY RESILIANCE DISCRETIONARY GRANT SCHEME’

Parish Clerk Information to note

Newark and Sherwood District Council has set up a small fund to support establishments that provide essential community services from premises such as Community Halls, Village Halls, and Church Halls.

To qualify for support, the establishment will need to demonstrate that it has lost significant income due to COVID-19 restrictions, for the period 1 April 2020 to 31 December 2020.

All requests must be made in writing to the District Council via the Parish Council and will need the approval of the relevant Ward Councillor. Where there are multiple Ward Councillors in a Parish, only one will need to approve the application.

This discretionary grant is only available for establishments that have not already received funding from the national grant schemes or the local discretionary schemes. Such grant schemes include but are not limited to:

  • Small Business Grant Fund
  • Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant
  • Newark and Sherwood Local Discretionary Business Grant Fund
  • Local Restrictions Support Grant (closed)
  • Local Restrictions Support Grant (open)
  • Additional Restrictions Grant

Assessment Process

All requests will be assessed on a case by case basis. The applicant will need to demonstrate and declare the following:

  1. The establishment has not received any grants listed in (1) above.
  2. The establishment has incurred significant (more than 80%) loss of income in the period 1 April 2020 to 31 December 2020. This will need to be evidenced by supplying the financial accounts of the establishment for the previous completed year end, together with income records (copy cash book or/and copy bank statements for the period 1 April 2020 to 31 December 2020).
  3. A declaration that the establishment will continue to operate following the award of the grant.

Payment of the Grant

  1. The closing date of the application is Friday, 29 January 2021.  All applications will be assessed within 14 days after this closing date.
  2. Successful applicants will be awarded a grant of between 75% and 100% of the loss in income evidenced in 2(ii) above, depending on the total number of successful applications received and the finite fund available to allocate.

If you have any questions regarding the scheme, please email communityengagement@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk and we will respond as soon as possible.
